Vision & Verse — Where Art Meets Poetry
(May 10 – July 4, 2026)
GrandOpening: Mother’s Day, May 10, 2026 | 1:00–3:00 PM
Vision & Verse: A Show for the Senses
Vision & Verse invites you into a world where words and visuals blend into one shared experience. Where poetry becomes image, and artwork becomes language. It is a celebration of the way art speaks across mediums—through texture, colour, rhythm, and meaning.
As one of our artists beautifully expressed:
“Do you hear the melody in the poem; see the graphics in the song? Do you feel the texture in the voice; the aroma in the words? Integration comes alive as we weave our art in our senses.”
— Patti Collins
This show is built on that idea of integration—how the senses overlap and how creativity expands when we allow different forms of expression to support each other.
The Beauty of Two Mediums
For many, Vision & Verse is a favourite because of how perfectly art and poetry balance each other.
“Vision & Verse is one of my favourite shows: two artistic mediums that provide yin and yang for each other.”
— Suzane
And as Sharyn shares, both forms of creativity offer emotional impact in their own way:
“Poems paint word pictures and artworks—paintings, sculptures, collages—use colour, shape and compositions to create poems. Both expand and touch our hearts.”
— Sharyn
Sharyn also reflects on how poetry and art invite interpretation:
“Just as a painting relies on the viewer’s imagination, poetry also leaves room for interpretation… This is the fundamental reason artists create: to connect with the viewer and share our common humanity.”
— Sharyn
Diana’s Story: A Meaningful Return
For Diana, Vision & Verse is more than an exhibition theme—it is a meaningful chapter in her artistic journey. Having been the Featured Artist in 2024, she later became the Fibre/Fabric Artist with @Artworksguelph, and describes her time with the collective as deeply transformative.
She also recently published her book, Journeys of a Stitching, featuring over twenty years of narrative poetry and fibre art. Copies will be available in the gallery.
“Vision and Verse was the theme when I was the Featured Artist in ‘24. I subsequently became the Fibre/Fabric Artist with @Artworksguelph. My two year experience with the collective has been life changing in more ways than I can express. I now see myself as both a poet and a fibre artist. Being part of this group has given me the confidence to publish more than twenty years worth of narrative poetry and some of my fibre art in a book called: Journeys of a Stitching. (Copies will be available in the gallery.) So it is with joy and gratitude that I am participating in the Vision and Verse Show as my last show with this remarkable Gallery.”
— Diana
Diana also shares her excitement about the upcoming opening reception on Mother’s Day:
“Hope to see you at our opening on Mother’s Day May 10, 2026 from 1–3PM. I am hoping my daughter, Cassie Norton, will join me in playing her violin, sharing some of her songs and I will read some of my poetry from 3–4pm. Bring your daughter or your mom, enjoy our snacks, meet all the artists, enjoy the visuals, the literature and later the music…”
— Diana
Featured Work Highlight: The Poet’s Cloak
Among Diana’s contributions to this show is a powerful wearable artwork-in-progress, filled with symbolism and storytelling.
“One of the pieces I have created for this show is a Poet’s Cloak. This is a work in progress with more space to add further images in fabric … but it is already embellished with symbols, beads, pockets. A piece of wearable art carrying the stories of who I am as a poet.”
— Diana
Poetry Feature
A reflection on imagination, language, and creative connection:
Verse is how it breathes,
How silence finds a voice at last;
It bends the light of inward scenes
And casts them forward, wide and vast. Each line a step from mind to world,
Each word a bridge from felt to known;
A fragile thread of what could be
Spun into something fully grown. So dream in colors yet unseen,
Then write them boldly into air—
For vision fades if left alone,
But verse can make it linger there.
— Deb Stocker

We Welcome You
Vision & Verse is a reminder that art is not only something we see—it is something we feel. It is the rhythm of poetry paired with the stillness of an image. It is colour meeting language, and meaning meeting imagination.
As Sharyn says, visitors are “doubly blessed and enriched”—and that is exactly what this show offers.
We look forward to welcoming you into the gallery.
